Het FTO-gen is gekoppeld aan lichaamsgrootte, lichaamsvetopslag en obesitas. Dit gen beïnvloedt de eetgewoonten, de voedingsvoorkeuren, de eetlust en het gevoel vol te zijn in het controlecentrum van de hersenen (de hypothalamus). Het FTO-gen is ook geassocieerd aan je kans op overgewicht.
